Where there used to be nothing but crumbling concrete now joyful colour abounds, from the flowers and leaves of the Thornville Street rain garden itself and now the rail bridge wall too!
The Thornville Street Rain Garden Mural celebrates the beauty of nature and the importance of sustainable practices, rewilding, told through the artistic vision of Alma Tischlerwood. Alma says “this piece reflects resident of St John’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.”

It would never have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of the local area in contributing more than £400 to an online fundraiser and Network Rail for providing the extra funds needed to finally bring this vibrant artwork to life.

”It’s dedicated to creating a greener, more colorful world for all to enjoy,” explains artist Alma who also recently completed a complimentary mural at The Brookmill Pub following her impactful work on St John’s Vale.
