The mural on the south side of the bridge joins the mural already completed opposite side which features the name of our area and local station: ‘St Johns’.  Both murals, designed by local artist Alma Tischler Wood, are designed to be seen together.  The south side is more colourful, featuring geometric shapes that convey a positive spirit of diversity and optimism.  The colour scheme is inspired by the rainbow banners of the NHS and Black Lives Matter, reminding us that colour invites creative celebration and positive thinking.

The second half of the St. John’s Vale road bridge was completed in March 2021.  Funding for the mural was secured by the St. John’s Society from Network Rail.

And finally, the mural needs a name!  Please email us with your suggestions at chair@st-johns-soc-org.
