Spring is springing all over St John’s with familiar seasonal flowers blooming and announcing that winter is over! Many of the tree pits and areas around street lights and bollards have been planted and are bursting with life along Ashmead Road in particular. We are seeing daffodils, bluebells, tulips, crocus, primrose are flowering in the front gardens, patches of green and our public open spaces.
Members of The St John’s Society have been busy planting new hedge shrubs (hazel, birch, prunus, dogrose, blackthorn) in the St John’s Garden by the church, kindly donated by the Lewisham Biodiversity Partnership. Looking forward to these native species taking hold and making the space greener.
Also lovely to see some of the brand new trees planted around St Stehpen’s School blossoming.
We’ll be planting some new additions to the Thornville Street Rain Garden in the coming days. The bees can’t wait!
