In the last year or so these are the things our band of volunteers has achieved:

  • Led the formation of The St Johns Rail Users Group
  • Led the formation of the Brookmill Road Local Nature Reserve.
  • Raised funding for the design, construction and installation of the Thornville Street raingarden and its ongoing maintenance.
  • Raised funding for and supported community funding of a new mural by Alma Tischlerwood next to the raingarden in Thornville street.
  • Supporting planting and greening efforts across the area including raising funds for a new rain garden within St Johns which is to be unveiled in 2026.
  • Raising funds for the planting of new trees across St Johns, whereby over 20 have been planted in the last 2 years and more are planned.
  • Supporting Friends of Friendly Gardens engagement with Thames Water to finalise their works.
  • Supporting the ongoing activities to redesign Friendly Gardens.
  • Campaigned for pedestrian safety and traffic-slowing across the area resulting on two new pedestrian crossings.
  • Hosting talks on The 1957 St John Railway disaster as well as the ongoing Greening Talks series in The Brookmill Pub.
  • Campaigned for bins to be installed on St Johns Vale and Friendly Street – this will now happen in 2026.
  • Organised a record Christmas Windows turnout.
  • And every month our diligent team of architect volunteers provide support and feedback on planning applications to the council and community. Whilst working to campaign for clear and more reasonable guidelines on conservation in our area.

We are ALWAYS open to new ideas or requests for support. Please do contact us through social media messages, or directly on the ‘Contact Us‘ page on this website.

Consider a monthly donation of a pound a month or every other month perhaps? It would mean we have to spend less volunteer hours finding cash and more time on the work we do.
