This year our St. Johns neighbourhood once again coordinated with the Brockley Society to create a community front garden sale in the St. Johns church garden on the weekend of 12th-13th September 2026.
Trestle tables began to appear just before 11 am and started to fill with a delightful selection of children’s toys, household goods, vintage jewellery, furniture and home-made lemonade. On Saturday the younger stall-holders were out in force bringing in customers off St. John’s vale and on Sunday we were joined by Becky McKevitt with her selection of winter veg seedlings, delicious home-grown tomatoes and her brother’s excellent sausage rolls.
Coordinated events like this long-standing tradition shared across Brockley, Ladywell, and St. John’s brings us all together, reshaping community connection and sustainable living.
This is a circular economy in action. Rather than sending unwanted furniture, toys, or clothes to landfills, residents move on their cherished items to neighbours who can make use of them. It also brings us together as a community across the generations and allows us to get to know new neighbours who have moved into the area.
