We thought we’d share some fantastic news – local beloved DIY shop KJ Building Supplies on Lompit Hill has been granted planning permission for the container on the adjacent land.  The following text is from the campaign update from The Big Retort.

Success!Dear Supporters,We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news with all of you – the SAVEKJ Campaign has achieved a monumental victory! After countless months of hard work and an outpouring of support from the community, K JBuilding Supplies has been granted planning approval by Lewisham Council for the use of the land and container. Will Buckle will now carry it to a new generation. We wish him well.This success is a testament to the dedication, perseverance, and unwavering support of each and every one of you. Your voices have been heard loud and clear, and your tireless efforts to preserve our community and stand up for local businesses have made an undeniable impact.We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who wrote letters, signed petitions, attended meetings, and showed your support in countless other ways. Your contributions have not gone unnoticed, and this victory is a testament to the power of community solidarity.A special thank you is also in order for Councillor Linda Cunningham, ward member for Ladywell, whose unwavering support and advocacy have been instrumental in our journey. Her dedication to our cause has been truly inspiring, and we are immensely grateful for her leadership.While we celebrate this incredible milestone, it’s important to acknowledge that our fight is far from over. Despite this victory, Kevin Bottomley continues to face challenges as he defends his beloved DIY shop before a Crown Court judge. It’s a bittersweet moment knowing that Kevin is still being criminalised for actions that have now been grantedplanning approval, albeit with a few conditions attached. All Kevin ever wanted was a fair chance, and we stand by him in solidarity as he navigates this difficult time.As we reflect on our success and look ahead to the future, let’s remember the incredible power of community and the importance of standing together in the face of adversity.
