Returning in 2023 the popular Picnic in the Park in Friendly Gardens. The event is all about having fun with family and friends and everyone is welcome. The day falls on International Picnic Day 2023 and Father’s Day. This year we are back with a great line-up of events. The rumours are true, headlining will be local musician Frances Mckevitt and The Franimals band.
This is just the tip of the Iceberg as we also have dancing from the Soul Sisters of Lucas Vale School and the Lewisham choir. We have also been kindly granted access to the railway meadow for small groups to have a chat with the meadow group on conservation, biodiversity and meet the bees.
We have a full line up of games for the kids so all you need to do is bring a blanket to sit on, your picnic, then relax and enjoy the entertainment. That Place in the Park will have a full selection of cake, tea, and Ice cream on offer if you forget your sandwiches. The running order for the day is:
12pm Picnic begins
12:30 Deptford Railway Meadow
13:00 Soul Sisters
13:30 Kids games
14:00 Choir
14:30 Kids games
15:00 Music
16:15 More music
17:00 Picnic ends and tidying up
The Friends of Friendly Gardens and The St John’s Society also invite you to have your say on what you would like to see in your local park. This will form part of a consultation exercise to look for future funding for the park.
See you on the 18th June.
