The monthly litter picks for the spring and summer months have resumed in the St. John’s area. The first of 2022 took place on Sunday 24th April, organised by the St. John’s Society. Around fifteen people including members of the committee and Councillor Stephen Penfold, turned up to pick litter and tidy the area.  The group met in St. John’s Gardens and picked along St. Johns Vale, Ashmead Road, Albyn Road, Brookmill Park and the basketball area, Friendly Street and Friendly Gardens where they met with another litter picking group already at work.

Earlier this year our chair Litsa and the chair of Florence Road Resident’s Group attended a council-led workshop for surveying residents’ thoughts on recycling matters.  They were both given a £20 voucher for attending which they used to purchase litter grabbers which you can see are now being put to good use!  One of these pickers was presented to Laura who takes excellent care of St. John’s Gardens.

The next litter pick days are as follows:

Saturday May 14th, 10am-12

Sunday June 12th, 10am-12

Saturday 16th July, 10am-12

Sunday 14th August, 10am-12

Saturday September 17th, 10am-12

The group usually meet in St. John’s Gardens; more details will be published on our social media nearer the time.
